The Greater Kyalami Conservancy

Beaulieu is a member of the Greater Kyalami Conservancy (GEKCO). This association bring together many of the neighbouring Residents Associations with the intent of retaining the equine rural residential character of the area. Residents are encouraged to become members of GEKCO. (www.gekco.co.za) . The Greater Kyalami Residents Council (GKRC), which is tightly interwoven with GEKCO, is an alliance of all the ratepayers associations within the Greater Kyalami suburbs and its main aim is to provide cohesive communication amongst role-players and to deal with the bigger issues (new commercial and residential developments and roads) that affect all of us. GEKCO, the Greater Kyalami Conservancy, has been in existence since late 2006. It is a formally registered convervancy with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. It has already received widespread recognition for its environmental, conservation and educational initiatives

Real Africa and Kyalami Ridge development

Oct 2010 - Having been quiet for a couple of years revised intentions to build a shopping centre of 56,000 m2 of gross leaseable area have come to the surface. This is nearly the size of the core Fourways Mall !

When look at in this context it become clear that there are already 2 regional shopping malls within 10kms and numberous ones a lot closer. So why we would need another regional mall (= catchment area

Plans for 2011
  1. Sustain our new capability by updating info packs, processes with estate agents etc 
  2. Contribute to the creation of Kyalami Eco Park Conservancy 
  3. Contribute to the re-establishment of the Greater Kyalami Residents’ Council of neighbouring ratepayer associations 
  4. Strongly represent the requirement to relieve congestion in any new plans for development in the area.
